Ramon Bandong, Jose Vera Santos Memorial Herbarium's resident plant taxonomist, will receive the 2020 Gawad Tsanselor para sa Natatanging Kawani on February 28, 2020 at the Main Hall Stage of the UP Theater.
Mang Mon, as he is fondly called by students, faculty, and staff of the Institute of Biology, is the groundskeeper of the UP IB-EDC BINHI Threatened Species Arboretum and the resident taxonomist of the Jose Vera Santos Memorial Herbarium. Students from all over the Philippines come to the herbarium to have plant specimens identified by Mang Mon. He is also one of the accredited guides for tours of the Threatened Species Arboretum.
